The song Aenima also got me over my fear of the apocalypse so that's a supporting reason for it being my favorite album.

Maybe because they're probably more likely to be living what they play.

There something about great bands and their early albums from when they're young that make them more powerful to me. The reason Aenima is the best to me is because it seems to have came at a time when Tool and MJK were peaking in ability, technical resources, and still had the rawness of young crazy dudes. I listened to each album from beginning to end multiple times. After getting hooked by songs like Sober, and Lateralus, I decide to listen to all of Tool. Their music strikes the weirdest and deepest chords.īeing late to the Tool game I had the privilege to Listen to all of their albums (and Opiate EP) from beginning to end. All this is a build up to what I'm about to say (which none of my main friends get) Tool is by far the best band I've ever heard. But the point is ghat I'm pretty diverse in my music background but whatever genre Tool is, I don't listen to anything like that. Couple of older friends randomly mentioned them, I randomly saw a could weird youtube videos. Undertow and Aenima are both straight 10.

But, my favorite album is Aenima, every single song on the album is above exceptional.įor someone who was 7 when the album released and didn't know a single Tool fan or song until my midtwenties, I would have to say I've taken a weird route to Tool. This reads a lot like soundcloud rapper stuff, which maybe it is, who knows. My favorite song is Flood off of Undertow, and I think Lateralus plays better front to back. I always like to start Stinkfist, pretending I dont know what genre of music Tool is, and when you hear that intro, you have to think "ok.what the fuck am I listening to?" Then Bam, it smashes you in the face and grooves so good. I didn't care for the segues so much when I first started to listen to Tool, but now I listen to it front to back. Every single one of the main songs is so good.

Then the actual song was such an intense trippy journey, I was immersed into the song, and forgot who I was, just like a really good movie can do to you.Īfter that I had to listen to the whole album. When I heard Third Eye for the first time I thought I might have had some Bill Hicks accidentally playing at the same time as Tool on my computer. The releases racked up over 20 million streams in the first 48 hours of release, as well as quickly claiming five spots on iTunes’ Top 10 Albums chart. Before I had heard of Tool, I was already a huge Bill Hicks fan.
